COVID-19: Economic Relief Measures Announced to Date

  • Relief measures for businesses

    Support for bus transportation

    • The Government of Québec is implementing the Emergency Assistance Program for Intercity Bus Transportation, with a budget of $8.2 million. The purpose of this program is to speed up the resumption of bus service in order to guarantee the population inter-regional mobility, in addition to contributing to Québec’s economic recovery.

    Support for Fish Farmers

    • The Government of Québec and the Government of Canada will invest $408,000 and $612,000 respectively in order to minimize the fish mortalities related to the surpluses the Fish Farmers have (because of drop in the volume of fish purchased from fish farmers) and to limit their financial losses by supporting the stocking of public water bodies.

    Support for the circus industry

    • The Minister of Culture and Communications announced funding of $10 million to support the revival of circus sector activities.

    Support for the tourism industry

    • The Government of Québec announced an investment of up to $753 million in order to assist the tourism sector and prepare for the recovery.

    • As part of the Plan de la reliance touristique, The Minister of Tourism announced funding of 1,386,812 to Tourisme Bas-Saint Laurent in order to support projects to develop the tourism offering of businesses in the region that are suffering the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Support for Montréal’s small businesses

    • Governments of Canada and Québec, along with Ville de Montréal, announced on June 8, 2020, a funding of up to $50 million to support businesses. The fund will be administrated by PME MTL. In addition, the Government of Québec is contributing $20 million more to the envelope for the Ville de Montréal under the Aide d’urgence aux petites et moyennes entreprises
