COVID-19: Economic Relief Measures Announced to Date

  • The Government of Ontario announced it will provide $2 million to the Ontario Together fund to help manufacture a one-of-a-kind sanitizing device. The device can decontaminate up to 800 N95 masks per hour alongside other personal protective equipment.

Support for Local Research and Innovation

  • The Government of Ontario announced a made-in-Ontario Intellectual Property Action Plan to help ensure the tremendous and social economic benefits of taxpayer-funded research and innovation stays within the borders of the province. The government unveiled the second round of research projects and plans to lend support by providing $20 million into the Ontario COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund.

Support for Manufacturing Sector

  • On July 10th, the Government of Ontario announced the “Ontario Made” program. The program will help consumers identify many world class goods that are made across the province in an effort to increase purchases of locally manufactured purchases. The program is made possible through the $50 million “Ontario Together Fund” which was launched April 1, 2020.

Additional Funding for Housing

  • The Government of Ontario announced it will provide an additional $150 Million to municipalities and urban indigenous communities to protect vulnerable people from COVID-19 by improving homeless shelters and creating opportunities for longer term housing.

Support for francophone businesses and community organizations

  • The Minister of Francophone Affairs announced that the government of Ontario will be investing $1 million in the Francophone Community Grants Program to support the Ontario Francophone community through the COVID-19 pandemic.
